Microbiology (B.S.)

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a Microbiology major is suitable for pre-med, pre-dental, pre-vet and pre-pharmacy students. Courses may include general microbiology, prokaryotic biology, pathogenic microbiology, bacterial genetics, environmental microbiology and biotechnology. The department also provides intensive laboratory courses and independent research opportunities.

This degree provides a solid foundation for advanced degrees in public health and biological sciences, as well as careers in environmental and industrial microbiology, public health, research, pharmaceutical and medical sales, and quality assurance in government agencies and many industries: agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and biotech.
